    Pointless ignition

I read an article on solid state ignition and just completing the enging portion of my project. Should I install this type of ignition?

    Paul,

Depends on what your goals are for the car. Concours purity dictates use of the original points ignition. Solid state works somewhat better, but not a big deal for street use. Biggest advantage is no maintenance, but no more miles than most of these cars see that is not a major concern. Some claim the hotter spark makes for easier starting. Certainly plug life is extended and there is less tendency to foul.

If you decide to do it, the Pertronix kit looks like the best way to go to preserve original appearance. Also easily reversible back to original.
