1972 Exterior rearview mirror

What sre the demensions for the actual mirror size? I have been told 3 inches deep X 5 inches wide. Is this correct?

Jerome, My 69 mirror, which I am assuming is the same as a 72, has a head width of near 5-3/8" and a base length of near 3-1/4". My understanding is that later models have a head width which is wider and is now the current GM replacement.

My '72 mirror measures appx. 5 3/8" wide and 3 7/8" tall.

'68 thru '71 mirrors are metal with a rubber edging, while '72 mirrors are black plastic.

The dimensions on my '71 mirrors are 2 1/4 in height, 1 1/8 in depth and 8" in length. I don't have my '72 'vettes any more unfortunately to answer your question.

Sorry for the confusion. I misread your post. The mirrors on the '71's are like others have stated 5 3/8's wide by 3 3/4 in height.
