    Zaino

On a couple of other boards I look at everybody is ranting about how great this product is on automotive finishes. It sounds like a three step process. Has anybody used it, and can you explain the process?

    Ferrous,

I have seen this product discussed at length on the CorvettForum board and one of the "regulars" on the C1/C2 site seems to be a distributor. It seems to be a lot of work to apply initially, but makes long-term car care somewhat easier. Me? I like good old-fashioned Simoniz. Lots of carnuba and elbow grease.

I recently used Zaino on my 67 with great results! The first step is to remove the old wax with dish washing soap (dawn). The next step is to apply a polish lock and then the polish directly over it.You then let it dry for atleast 30 minutes depending on outside temp. The polish wipes off very easily with no dust. The final step is a gloss enhancer spray which you spray on in small amounts and then wipe off. This product leaves a mirror finish that will amaze you!! Good Luck

        Re: Zaino

I've tried it on lesser vehicles to see how it worked (my wife's minivan). It's more like five steps - wash to remove all old wax; clay the exterior to remove what the wash missed; apply a coat of the first product let dry and leave on car; apply the second product, let dry and wipe off; then use the spray and wipe off. It takes pretty much all day to do. The shine is really good; don't know that it's better than one of the wax-based systems, though. What does seem to be better is that the van attracts less dust than a car with wax on it. My 2 cents. The stuff is also expensive.

I've used Zaino alot. It gives a very good shine (don't know that it 'protects' better). Lots of work! I'm using Zimol now and it gives just as good a shine (IMHO) with less work. I use Zaino car wash and leather treatment and it's great. The service is very good and you get to talk to the owner/chief (Sal).

Rich - What kind of paint do you have on your '67 - lacquer? enamel? clearcoat? If you don't want to divulge on the board, e-mail me.

                    Re: Zaino

Duke, used it on my C5. I liked it as it left a nice shine and was easy to maintain. It's liquid and goes on easily and comes off easily. Used with a California Duster I never had to wash the car unless it got rained on. Mr Zaino has a website I believe it's called "Zainobros.com" or something like that.

                      Re: Zaino

I just Zainoed my '99 GMC truck this weekend. It is alot of work, but I think the shine is superior to the carnauba I had been using. I also washed, clay barred, polish lock, then two coats of polish. I have to agree with some others that it's alot of work, but I think it is worth it on a vehicle that is garaged and only used for pleasure, like a Corvette. I don't know about my truck, since it's parked outside, alot of work just to see it dirty again in a few days. One other good thing about Zaino is that they claim to have the best UV protection compared to other waxes. This is the benefit for the truck or other vehicles parked outside. Jeff

Jeff, I've been using Zaino for the last 2 years but I have never tried the clay bar, does it work well. I don't need it on my 71 but I have a black pickup that sits out. thanks

                          Re: Zaino

The clay bar is a miracle worker! I highly recommend it. It's easy to do, and when you are finished the paint is perfectly smooth. It will remove paint overspray, tar, bug residue, water stains, just about anything. I used Mother's Clay Bar on my wife's car last week and Clay magic on my truck this weekend. I liked the Mother's a little better, and it was about $3 cheaper. It made my wife's 7 year old car look and feel like new (after the addition of the wax). Jeff
