I have a 2006 coupe that was recalled for top de-laminating. Dealer repaired, but noise has returned. Has anyone gone through this? Is a new top the answer? Thanks

Re: 2006 Top
These failures resulted from incorrect adhesive or manufacturing methods by the supplier.
First instances of this failure were addressed with dealer repair using an adhesive foam introduced under the top skin. These early attempted repairs were unsuccessful in most cases, and in some cases, were repeated multiple times. For a period, GM went to top replacement, first with transparent tops, and later with improved 2006 production that used different materials.
I believe that the replacement of tops has now been discontinued, and proven repair methods have now been adopted. I would see my dealer, but make sure he is getting the latest information from his regional contact.- Top

Re: 2006 Top
Thanks to everyone with the info. My car is within the recall VIN and the dealer just keeps repairing. I think a new top is in order. I too was concerned regarding paint match. Love the car...hate the noise.- Top

Re: 2006 Top
If your top is made of white glass it needs nothing. If it is black glass & is not loose it gets foamed. If it is loose it gets replaced or repaired until a new top comes in. Some tops were replaced with the old glass (black). We have only had to replace 1 and foamed the rest as they were not loose. Most dealers dont like this recall because of the time they pay.- Top
