    72 oil sending unit

I have a 72 Vette and want to change my mechanical oil guage to an electric one. Is there a way to replace my old gauge with an electric one and still keep it in the gauge cluster? I would like it to appear as original as possible on the inside. Thanks

Yes, it's possible. Simply use a 73-75 gauge and sender. The gauge will fit perfectly in your cluster and match the other gauges. The gauge is GM-discontinued, but I believe it's available in reproduction.

There are "up-sides" and "down-sides" to such a conversion. The only advantage I see is that it eliminates the oil transmission line into the cockpit; if these leak it can create quite a mess before you even know it happened. On the "down-side", an electric set-up may not be as accurate as a mechanical gauge.
