    wiper motor 1972

I just removed the wiper motor from my '72 to have rebuilt. The decal has the following numbers:

    topline: 5044780
    bottom line: 156 2 3A

Can some tell me what the numbers mean?

    Jerry-----

The 5044780 is the part number for the motor assembly. This assembly includes the washer pump. SERVICE assemblies don't include the washer pump, so they have a different part number.

The 156 2 is a date code in julian style. It decodes to the 156th day of 1972.

Regarding the 3 A, I am not sure.

just finished refurbishing the wiper motor assy. on my 67 and would rather do the trailing/torque arms---they are a bear to get the windings out of the housing or i had just one of those bottom side tolerance motors---if some one will do it for $150 range or less go for it---took me 5 hours plus as i broke it up in to a two day project---i sent car # 1 out to be done in san diego with the head light motors and thought i would like to do car # 2 myself as it is the keeper---car # 1 was at pomona last sunday getting the top installed by a k and it turned out nice but boy does it pull up on the deck lid---kinda freaked out when they took the tourch to it, to tighten up the canvas

If memory serves, the other ID characters, '3A' in this case, represent the producing location (line 3) and the time of build (A= 1st shift)....

Jerry - My 1970 wiper motor has the same "3A" characters at the end of the second line. I think I recall reading somewhere in the archives that this indicates the shift number, or something like that.
