Color 62 PCV Adapter Valve RPO 242

I am in the process of converting my 62 340hp to the rare California RPO 242 option. (good citizenship?) I have received the fitting from Paragon which replaces the draft tube setup but it is unfinished. Does anyone know what the correct color of the fitting and bolt should be? engine color? semi flat black? I am also looking for a source for the spring ring clamps used to attach the PCV hose to the PCV valve and T assembly (part # 272848) as per the illustration on p.42 of the judging manual. Thanks Guys...

Tom, I'd go w/the ever popular...

...semi black on the fitting held with a natural bolt (& washer). Finding the correct gasket that seals the fitting to the block may be more challenging unless included w/the kit...

Re: PCV Adapter Color and Gasket

Dennis,Is your recommendatiom based on having seen one? It is true that the draft tube setup is semi flat black. I'm having no luck on the spring ring clamps or the gasket. Will probably fabricate a gasket, but source of the ring clamps remain a mystery...I've tried Paragon and Long Island Corvette. Heater hose ring clamps are not hard to find, but PVC hose size seems to be impossible.

Tom, Krylon 1613/2 - Just like on a regular...

...road draft tube. I've had 5 cars with the ultra rare RPO 242. I just scrounged through my Corbin clamp dumping ground and found what I needed. Good luck with the install, don't forget to utilize a breather style oil fill cap if not already in place. I like the system a lot better than the road draft tube system. This way you are sucking all the demons out of the engine... An added bonus is most judges aren't very familiar with the system, so you are usually able to dodge a few judging bullets... Did I say that...???

Tom, Try auto parts and/or hardware store...

...I used a brass weatherhead type fitting for the T, which may have been what the General did. Smaller Corbin clamps are likely found at a hardware store that carries the brazillian nuts/bolts/screws/clamps collection. Sometimes its better not to shop at the Corvette store...

I just went through this. Dr. Rebuild was the only vendor I was able to find that carried the Corbin clamps. I just bought some a few weeks ago. Dr. Rebuild als ocarries the gaskets. Yes, there are 2 gaskets that go in there. I believe other vendors carried the gaskets too. I believe these gaskets are the same ones as the gaskets for the road draft tube.

I've got the Dr. Rebuild part numbers someplace. Write back, if you can't find them in his catalog.

WRT to the color of the tube. Never saw one on a car. But I've seen a few of them on EBay. They've all looked like raw steel or zinc plated. Now I know EBay is not the JG. But they've all been the same.

I think I will install it unpainted. The worst that can happen is a Judge can point out my transgression...PROVE IT?? Anyway, it can always be jerked out and painted...
