    What do you think?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this 4-spd listed on Ebay?

What application was the T-89 used for?

    Joe,

There is a bearing on Ebay for a T-89 transmission, described as a 64 Studebaker.

Joe, I recall reading in a WO about the steel(prototype) tail shafts, for the race program, being used and they weren't working out. It also said they weren't going to order more steel ones as they knew that the aluminum ones were almost ready for shipment.

            The real deal

The T-10 attached to the George Moore / Eb Rose / Carroll Shelby engine..is an unrestored early March '57 T-10 with cast iron main case and cast iron tailshaft..exactly like the T-10 pictured by Noland.

It even has the 0 dash casting # on the tailshaft.

I am bringing this Corvette EK block Blackwidow engine and transmission to Bloomington next week for display...at the Special Collection...along with the early blueprint.

            Below is a preview.

I do believe that the T89 was used as a mule to develop the T10 although my T10 blueprints do not show that. It would be interesting to see more documents about its development.

If the T89 advertised on Ebay is genuine..then it is a rare piece. I just don't know how to distinguish it from the units used on GMC trucks, Fords, Studebakers, AMC product etc..

My bad, I didn't read your post correctly, I thought it was an aluminum main case with a steel tail shaft that you were talking about.
