I have a '73 vette and want to install a rear window defogger; however, the assembly manual indicates that I have to drill a huge hole in the left rear wheel well so that I may place the shield to the defogger motor. Does anyone know if this is correct? Can anyone email me a picture? Also where can I buy a sheild for the defogger motor? I live in southern California so any reference would be appriciated.

I have seen one installed and it does require a shield in the wheel well. It also requires special rear interior trim on coupes. I have no pictures of the shield and the setup for convertibles is lots different from the coupe instalation.

I have a 1968 coupe with a rear window defroster...if it would help I can take some pics for you of the drives side rear fender area where the motor and duct are located...not sure what shield you are talking about...let me know.

Look in the wheelwell under the motor on the outside near the top of the tire and their should be a plate or cover. It may be blacked out but that is the shield in question.
