    59' hardtop weatherstripping

In replacing my hardtop rear window weather stripping, I came across two mounting holes beside the left and right hand hardtop to deck lid mounting brackets. The original weather stripping had indentations over these holes, as if something was mounted there originally. maybe to protect the deck lid from the mounting brackets, which previously scratched my deck lid until I cemented an additional piece of rubber under the brackets to protect the deck lid. I can not find anything in my litiature or parts catalogs what might have mounted to these holes through the weatherstrip. I would appreciate any information anyone could provide......Jim# 8367

    Re: 59' hardtop weatherstripping

Jim: Just looked at my '60 hardtop that I restored a couple of months ago and have yet to put on the car. The only holes in the weatherstripping adjacent to the mounting brackets are for the small metal headed spring pins that hold the rubber to the frame. I covered the heads with vinyl tape to keep them from scratching. The fasteners are similiar to Corvette Central # 631510 on p 133.

        Jim:
The reference to Corvette Central was only to give you an idea of what the parts looked like. I would suggest you contact Glassworks (www.the hardtopshop.com) to get the correct parts.
