Per 1962 JM I see that early 61 grille bars up to apx sn #3000 to #6000 may not have the alignment locating "V" notch(also shown in the 62 AIM) in the lower rear center of the bar, and later 61 & all 62 had the "V". I just bought an original(vgc) bar to rechrome advertised that it had the "notch as in the manuals", but it's not the "V" notch. There is a 1/8" x 1/4" rectangular notch at the end of the bar next to the letter "S" stamped in the mounting bracket. So it looks like I have an early 61 bar. I have a 62 car.
The questions.......
Are the rear horizontal welded-in supports for the early versus later bars identical?
Is everything else the same? i.e "S" stamp, 1/8x1/4 notch in the left mount?
Is this bar rare as it has no V notch?
Links to pictures of the 61E bar below. #23.JPG is the center backside horizontal support I'm talking about. I'm not sure what to do with it, send it back or make my own "V". I'm planning to rechrome anyway. I really hate to make the V if these are rare. Are they?
Thanks,
Rich
p.s. If anyone is in extreme need of this 61E bar please contact me via email directly.
