Appears to be about as original as can be. But who knows...
1968 A/C small block, 4-speed with a/c. It does not have the idle solenoid set-up. I emailed the seller and his response:
Hello Bryan. I checked for the solenoid and found none... nor any bracket... nor any wire that may have once powered such a device. Your question made me wonder ? and my curiosity culminated into a call to the gentleman that appraised the car in hopes of an answer. To the best of his knowledge (which is quite extensive) and after consulting M F Dobbins, "VETTEVUES FACT BOOK OF THE 1968-1972 STINGRAY", he was quite convinced that the idle solenoid had not yet been used in the 1968 Stingray. Although the book had no reference to the 1968 being outfitted with the solenoid in any of the text or in any of the photos of original '68 engines, and the appraiser's recall of the use (or non-use) of the solenoid reflects that of the book, the appraiser did say that nothing's for sure when it comes the the '68 and its many changes throughout the production year.
Anyway, thanks for the question... I apologize if the answer isn't 100% definitive, but I assure you that it was carefully researched in hopes of providing you with the most accurate information available to me. Most certainly it will give you some food for thought! Thanks for your interest. Jeff
