    Roy Braatz

It would appear that a couple of disrespectful members have driven Roy away from posting on this board. I always enjoyed his posts of options that most of us probably didn't even know existed. Just my thots. Miss your posts Roy

I hope this is only a rumor. I can't believe our club members would do such a bold thing...

Only Roy can speak to why he does not post here any more, everything else is speculation. On my part, I sometimes email responses to questions to avoid crappy comments from others. Just found it is sometimes better to not be "seen" and have some snarky comment about your opinion. I respect the knowledge others members have, but some of them could get off the high horse. Taking cheap shots via email is easy, you know nobody is going to dump you on your butt for being a jerk...

I have to agree with Mike - having had the same experience a few times. Consequently, I sometimes email directly as well, depending on the subject. Because of that, a lot of us are missing out on information that could be on the board. It seems that some are compelled to want to "top" other's replies with no substantial, or different, content in their post. This can be insulting to others.

I am not impressed if someone happens to be a nationally prominent vendor, restorer, et cetera, who posts here. They are just a member, just like me - no more, no less. I am impressed by how they treat others, and by their technical knowledge, in that order. If they are rude or arrogant, I really don't care how good their knowledge may be - I'm not interested.

This is the best such resource there is, and I am fortunate to be benefiting from it. Thank you! - to the many knowledgeable people who share their expertise, in a gracious and helpful manner.

              Now wait just a minute!

How do you know "first hand" what's said on the VetteHeads discussion board? I've never seen your name mentioned over there! I am offended!

                Jim........................................

Do as I say and not as I do.........right, Jim?

You talk about valuable members here being offended................well what the he*l do you think you just did to members here that are member on CF or ("or worse yet") Vetteheads........yep you just offended them and that includes ME! In fact some of the people that you say have "left in recent" months have become Vetteheads, maybe because Vetteheads are very hard to offend. They are trying to keep the FUN in this thing we call a hobby.

And BTW how do you know what goes on over on the VH board?

Since this is strictly a technical board, I will include this..............my 65 RH, right hand, headlamp door is out of sink with the LH, left hand, door by 2 milliseconds, any suggestions on how synchronize them so they close exactly at the same time?

                  Re: Roy Braatz

Frank, I'm late to this conversation, but I'll have to step forward and volunteer as the "disrespectful member" last seen talking to Roy Braatz before he departed. If the organization wants to censure me for speaking my piece in our disagreement, it won't be the first time my attitude has been adjusted; I'm sensitive too, but if I can't take it, I can't dish it out.

Roy and I had a severe difference of opinion on what should and should not be judged in NCRS; in retrospect, neither of our opinions made a hill of beans difference because NCRS rules aren't going to be changed on just any whim...I should have taken it off-line as suggested above. I personally didn't want Roy's proposal to even be considered for a number of reasons, and I felt that voicing my strenous objection to his proposal was the first level of resistance.

I don't remember being "disrespectful" to Roy in any of the three threads relating to this discussion...if disagreeing with someone is all it takes to be disrespectful to them, my opinion is that person is too sensitive to be relating to other human beings because differences of opinion are just human nature.

In my opinion, Roy has problems with several aspects of NCRS that I can't see being resolved...I don't know any of the history, but he has left the organization before, and I suspect it was to "find another church". Most of us can say some problems with the way things are done, but until the negatives outweigh the positives, NCRS will be my home...we may not be able to make EVERYTHING like we want it, but leaving is CERTAINLY not going to make any difference in the big picture IMO.

Roy has gone away from this board and pouted several times. Yes, I TOLD him that, and it was the truth; maybe THAT was tactless, but it was not intentional disrespect...Roy needed to hear the unvarnished truth. He has always come back after these little perceived insults...unfortunately for me, I'm the one that has apparently said things to him that made it stick. That wasn't my goal, and I had no part in the decision. I like and respect Roy for his past contributions to the hobby and NCRS...I have tried to reassure him after contentious exchanges with others here.

I have noticed that several regulars are recently missing from the Tech Board, and if I have had anything to do with that, I am deeply troubled. If current posters feel the Tech Board is better without me than with me, I'll abide by that opinion...especially if it means you can have Roy back. And, Roy, if you're reading this, I apologize for being thick-headed and not realizing I was terminally hurting your feelings...I DO NOT apologize for objecting to judging antique fire extinguishers in place of modern versions that are likely to be effective if needed. JMHO.

                    Re: Roy Braatz

You didn't say anything wrong and you do not have anything to apologize for. I respect people for speaking their minds as long as tact is used. Roy has apparently taken a sabbatical of his own choosing. If he chooses to come back then that's great and if he chooses to stay away then that's his choice. One of the many problems with out society today is everything insults someone. Another is that we don't step back behind the barn to settle our issues man to man. The only problem with that is I would get beaten up a lot, but, what the heck.

Hey Chuck, Roy spoke his mind and you spoke yours. You did a fine job of it so don't apologize. Hey Roy, quit pouting, we miss your pictures.

See you guys behind the barn,

                    Mark
