        It sounds like you're saying that it appears that for 66-67 L79's No Power no air, the capitive belt is on the 2nd track. That coincides with your first post above. Do I understand correctly?

          My early 66 L79 belts

          This photo is of my 1966 L79.No AC and no PS from the factory It has always had the captive belt next to the engine. The Alternator dated 5J5 has an aprox inch and a quarter pulley which lines the belt to the front groove of the WP. If this is wrong,then it has been wrong for 38 years or longer.
