I've just finished wet sanding the back deck of my 64 with 2000 grit after repairing some damage to the black acrylic enamel paint caused by a ladder. Normally after wet sanding I use a 3M finishing compound (professional quality) followed by Mother's wax but I can always see a slight bit of fog after I'm done. Is there a better approach? I'm thinking that I might be missing a step between the 2000 grit and the finishing compound.

Re: Paint finish
Use the finishing compound with a wool pad then step down to the finesse it compound on a foam pad should do it. If the paint has been on for a while it is probably as hard as a rock and will be hard to polish. Just keep working the finishing compound until you get rid of the 2000 sanding marks.- Top
