I know all about the L78 Corvette blocks & components . What parts did they share with the Z16 65 Chevelle .They both used the 962 block but were they Pass. or Hi Per. & did they have "ribs". Did they use the same crank, cam, pistons , etc. ?I also would be interested in what was used in the big 65 cars. Thanks Bill

Re: Z 16 Chevelles & L 78 Corvettes
Bill-----
Most of the internal parts of the Z-16 Chevelle and the Corvette L-78 were the same with one big exception. That exception was the camshaft and lifters. The Z-16 Chevelle used an hydraulic camshaft that was unique to this application. Heads, block, intake manifold, pistons, rods, crankshaft, timing set, rocker arms, and most other components were the same.
The exhaust manifolds, oil pan, distributor, and carburetor were different. However, the carburetor was, basically, the same as 1965 Corvette L-78.
The L-78 engine used in full size cars for 1965 was, basically, the same as the Corvette L-78. Even the exhaust manifolds were the same. The oil pan, distributor, and carburetor were different, although, once again, the carburetor was only slightly different. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
