    C2-67 427-390 Carb gasket & heat shield

Is the order of assembly for the carb, gasket and metal heat baffle this:

    1) Intake manifold
    2) Gasket
    3) Metal baffle/heat shield
    4) Holley carb

This is not covered in the judging manual. I was docked for this assembly order.

The AIM looks like the items stack up this way.

    Steve -

Yes, that's the correct "stack"; whoever docked you for it needs to become more familiar with the design.

        Steve-----

There are LOTS of folks who think that the stainless heat shield goes on first, then the gasket. Every one of these folks is wrong. Period.

if you are not chasing points i would

install a carb to intake gasket between the carb and the stainless plate because a lot of these older carbs have a warped throttle base plate and you will have a vacuum leak without the gasket

            Hello;
Use a very thin coat of sealer between the carb & heat shield.
Assemble the the components. Push down w/ hand pressure.(don't bolt together)
Take it back apart to check for a good seal between carb and heat shield.
            Hope that helps.

DO NOT use RTV as the sealer

              because gasoline will dissolve it
