    C3 69 BC/CC paint number/code

My painter is getting ready to paint my 69 and we have decided to use a bc/cc combination vs lacquer. Does anyone have the current paint codes for this combination? The car's paint code is 988 burgundy.
    Thanks in advance.

Where your painter buys his paint will be able to use the 988 and a 1969 Corvette to mix the proper color for the product line he is buying. Have them spray out a sample and see how it matches some paint on the car that has not seen daylight like under the sill plate.

You (or your painter) shouldn't have to ask blend code questions again! Note, the Corvette info for #988 is shown in the 'Additional Corvette' table below the standard Chevy paint chips. Also, if you play with their data base, you'll find interior codes and sometimes the exact gloss factor to mix...

My guy called the local Chevrolet dealer to get help on the paint issue, they wanted the vin number of the car to help him out. Now I am starting to worry. Thanks for all your help. Jim

VIN number...It's an obligatory question for late models; some C5-C6 colors like Magnetic Red have 12 different mix formulas, and these are VIN dependent.

The parts counter guy is going to take the VIN number to the body shop manager, who's going to go to the same commercial sources available to everyone else, and bring the parts guy back the same formula number shown on AutoColorLibrary.com (or a DuPont equivalent). Give them an A for being helpful.

Don't worry about the paint; VIN number isn't going to change a 69 mix formula at this point; it's either going to match the paint on a protected area, or it will have to be "adjusted" if you want a perfect match. You may want to worry about your painter for not knowing that Mr. Goodwrench is not where you get paint info.
