Seat Back Release Repairs - '67 Coupe

I'm overhauling the seat back release components on my 1967 Coupe. When assembled, the component parts reside under a plastic cover that is sandwiched between the seat padding/springs/etc. and seat release. I'm missing the cover on one side. Can the seat be reassembled without the cover with a high level of confidence the seat release won't come apart? If not, any ideas? I have not found the cover available.

I have also found that the Seat Back Lever Fork pivot broken. This part is pressed into the seat frame and peened over at one end. I have drilled this out. Is the Seat Back Lever Pivot Screw currently available from most parts sources the correct replacement part?

You'll find that Paragon and LICS have all the '67 seat back release parts (except the plastic shield).

Yes, I just spent $375+ with them this morning for all of the seat parts along with a whole set of stainless brake lines and new brake hoses. I think what's on the car are original. I don't care about points here. I almost ran into the back end of a cargo van on Sunday returning from the tech seminar! I had to change my undershorts when I got home.

Except for the rotors, brake system will all be new and I'll sleep better at night.

Now, about that plastic cover? Better keep an eye on your car next time I see you.
