    1968 Corvette 4-Speed Gear Lube

My local transmission rebuild shop stated that I should use GL-4 gear lube instead of GL-5 because the additives in GL-5 can attack certain components in the Muncie 4-Speed transmission. Is this true?? When I go to my local auto parts store, I mostly see GL-5 gear lube or the container says it meets GL-4 / GL-5 requirements. Also, how about using Mobile One Synthetic gear lube? I would prefer to run a high-grade synthetic lube but it states on the bottle that it is GL-5 also. One last thing... Someone told me that synthetic lube tends to leak more so than standard gear lubes. Is this also true??

I run Mobile synthetic in my T-10 with no issues at all. I have run it going on 3 years now and about 5500 miles. It seems to shift easier but that is subjective. No leaks at all. It is in my Javelin but that shouldn't make any difference. GL
