C2 Interior Door Lock Knob Removal

I've got to pull the driver's side door panel to inspect the window track and was wondering if there was a trick to remove the door lock knob without damaging the vinyl panel. The lock knob is recessed and it is hard to get a tool behind it to release the clip that locks it to the lock shaft.

There are special tools for that which do all the handles, however I believe a very short time ago somebody posted a method using cloth as a pull tool. Do a search - not sure of what words to search for, sorry.

Best method I've found is using a small hooked pick to grab the omega clip and pull it back. Use a little masking tape to protect the vinyl while you're fussin' & cussin' and trying to hook that pesky clip.

Always wished someone would make a special omega clip with a loop that facilitated hooking it!
