    1964 Fan Clutch Needed

    Hi all,

Anyone know a dealer who sells original late model 1964 correct fan clutches? Restored or unrestored is okay.

    Thanks,

    Craig

Yes Uncle Jack I know I promised. This is just an obsession.

    Craig,

Fred MIGHT sell you a core, if he has one. I don't know if he'll rebuild it for you, because at present time he is severely backlogged. Last time I looked, turnaround was about 1 year. If Fred has no core for you, then check the Driveline. BEWARE: make SURE that you CAREFULLY look at the picture that I posted, earlier, to discern the subtle differences between an original Eaton, and a current replacement "clone".
There is another clutch rebuilder in the fray; however, I have no experience with him and cannot give meaningful advice here.

        Hi Craig,
Check the archives I'm sure there's a lot on fan clutches. For driving around the GM p/n 3916141 works well and is very similar in appearance to the original.
I have never heard a single bad word about one of the rebuilt fan clutches, but I don't think I'd use one outside of judging.
I have found a few of the original type reasonably priced at non-corvette swap meets, they were not used only on corvettes. I only use one of these relics for judging though.

          They work....

I've now logged better than 60K miles on the Fred Oliva rebuilt fan clutch in my '71 SB A/C car. Plus, a fellow RMC member had no fears (nor any problems) driving his '65 396 car from Denver to the Park City National and back on his Fred Oliva rebuilt fan clutch....
