    1964 Fan Clutch ?

    Hi all,

Can someone please provide me a picture of a correct late model Fan Clutch for my 327 300 HP car? I would be forever grateful.

    Thanks,

    Craig Willetts

    Re: 1964 Fan Clutch ?

    Craig,

There were 2 types of clutch used at that time, the Switzer and Eaton types. Here is an example of my original Eaton type from 1965, just back from restoration by an excellent chap in Florida. Same applies to your '64.

The modern replacements are built with modified operating characteristics, I'm told, in that they are later in engaging, and therefore might contribute to an over-temp condition with prolonged idle. The outer appearance differs with the shape of the reserviour, and lack of the two areas on the outer edge where three of the fins are fused.

    "D7F" shows a date of April 7, 1965.
"CJ" is for SBC, and "CK" would be for BBC. For 1964, this designation would not appear. The TIM&JG states that it should appear for 1965, too, but some experts dispute this. I had mine prepared in accordance with the "book".
