Re: Hey #14, Mr Head in the sand... The last Chev.

    Dennis-----

Buy a new Corvette and you get an engine made in Canada, a 6 speed manual trans made in Mexico, starter and A/C compressor made in Japan, wheels made in Japan, radio made in Mexico. The list goes on......

Also, all Chevrolet Gen I and Gen II small blocks manufactured since the demise of Flint Engine quite some time ago have been manufactured in Toluca, Mexico. This also includes most SERVICE parts for Gen I and Gen II small blocks. Toluca has been producing small block parts and engines for at least 25 years but since Flint's passing, they are the sole source for such GM parts. Both the castings and machining/assembly are done at Toluca.

      Re: Joe L. - 10/4 on the Ferraris... Bu-T-Ful

      Dennis-----

Question: why can't they make a moderately priced car that looks like a Ferrari? I mean, it's just sheet metal. Why can't they just bend it to look like a Ferrari instead of, say, a Buick Lucerne?

Thanks Joe... Been wondering the same thing...

...since (circa) the mid 70's. Where is a Larry Shinoda type when you need them?

          Re: Perspective

Joe; I am currently in Athens Greece. The company I work for has put us up in Kifissia which is a suburb( one of the higher end ones). The other night while walking to eat we saw 3 Ferrari's, a BMW 6 class, a new Jag and a brand new, dark blue Diablo( I believe). It leaves one drooling. However there was a 1976 Corvette also "cruising" the same route.

              Real Life

In Nov. of last year on my last drive of the season, I was traveling up Lakeshore Road on the east side of Detroit, when on the other side of the divided road a new Shelby 500KR saw me and whipped around and pulled up along side. It was so new it didn't have plates yet. Well, the light ahead was red and I knew these guys would want to "go", so I slowed such that we would not make it to the light, stop, and then race. A '65 FI car with a 3:36 rear is not a stoplight demon. When the light turned green we were going about 20mph. I stuck dead even with him until about 90, when he started to pull away. 500 horsepower has to have an advantage at some point. Still, the old girl has some kick left in her.
