72 Vacuum Tank

Folks,

My vacuum tank has a split in it(72 Vette). How much should I spend on a replacement? Should I buy used? Where do you recommened I buy a tank.

Vacuum tanks are not easy to remove. Would some JB Weld seal the split? Some are really good with a wire welder.

The tank is already out. If I can't find a new replacement I may just weld it.

I don't think that these tanks are currently reproduced. So, if you want a new one, you'll have to find an NOS example. These come up from time-to-time on eBay. You need to be sure to get a 3 port tank and not a 2 port, though. Expect to pay anywhere from $100-250 for one on eBay, depending upon how "hungry" and foolish the bidders at the time happen to be.

Hi Greg,

Depending on just where the split is, I think I would look at soldering it first. Far less warpage and metal degredation that way.

I'd take it to a reputable radiator shop and see if they could perform the repair.
