Someone hit the rear of my 66'. (Ouch!) I live in Detroit and was wondering if I could get a reccomendation of a quality shop to replace my rear deck/tail light panel as well as repaint the area and match paint with expertise. Thanks, Mike Nehra/member-NCRS

Re: Detroit, Michigan: top notch body + paint work
I've never taken a car there (hopefully never will!) but I have heard good things about Pennington's, East side of Rochester, North of 15 in Troy. They usually have Vette's in their enclosure, and I have seen their work on show cars, and they do a real nice job.- Top

Re: Detroit, Michigan: top notch body + paint work
Although I have no personal experience, Elite Body & Paint which is owned by Gary Mau is supposed to do good work. A friend that had his '66 repainted there a couple of years ago was happy with their work on his virgin fiberglass. Unfortunately, he had a knock off let go and destroy a fender only a couple months later. I think he was happy with the body work and paint the second time, too.
Elite offers several levels of work, I think, from NCRS jobs to getting rid of all the waves in the body. Prices vary according to the work done, but are not cheap. You can even as much of the prep work as you want yourself (removing trim, etc.).
Sorry, I don't have the address or phone number handy, but you should be able to look them up in the phone book. I think they may be located in or near Madison Heights, MI.
