    61/ 62 baffled oil pans

Is the 61 trap door oil pan the same configuration and 5 qt capacity as the non baffled/trap door pans through 1962 ?

Is the 62 baffled/trap door pan the same as the 6qt/ 63+ baffled/trap door pan?

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Joe-----

    1) Yes, if you are referring to external configuration.

    2) No, they are COMPLETELY different in configuration.

Re: 61/ 62 baffled oil pans

      Thanks Joe!

It has been a while since I handled the early pans. I have my old 62 327/300 pan for comparison and a pan of the same profile with the side baffles and trap door. This trap door pan will go on the 61, 283 along with the flat windage tray. My foggy memory of a trap door pan off a 62 FI I had caused me to doubt I had the proper pan.

I also have the 6 qt trap door pan with the flat windage tray on the 63.

One more question if you don't mind. How many different design windage tray studs were available? One length and thread size for the flat tray for the 283/327 and another for the curved tray on the 350?

      Thanks again for responding!

There were several different studs used for 60-65. 60-61 used GM #3769769. This is the only stud ever available for 60-61 applications. It was discontinued without supercession.

1962 used stud GM #3784953. Early 1963 might have used this stud, too. 1963-64 used stud GM #3815532. This stud was also SERVICE for 1962. 1965 used stud GM #3872718. This stud was also SERVICE for 62-64.

All 70-72 LT-1's use stud GM #3960312. The latter was later discontinued and superceded by GM #14087508.
