    1972 LT-1 Carb Date Question

Think i know the answer here, but I just wanted a sanity check from those smarter than me!

Trim Tag on my 1972 Coupe has a build date of 11/29/71
    Engine casting date is 8/1/71
    Stamp Pad date is 8/13/71
Carb date is September 1971. All of the carb's casting no's match the judging guide for a LT-1. (don't have the exact numbers or car in front of me at the moment)

my question is: is this a correct carb for this car (based on the date). The date is after the engine was assembled, but before the car was built.

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Steve,

If you check the archives there has been discussion about this before. The carburetor was installed at St Louis when the car was assembled, not at Flint with engine build so the dates look good to me.

The date looks very reasonable. Carbs are stamped when THEY were manufactured, not when they were installed on the engine at the assembly plant.

Thanks Guys. I couldn't remember exactly when the carb was installed. You cleared it up for me.

Carbs, altenators, starters and many other component parts were batch built. They did not built 844 alternators every day. Same for the carbs. There is one application for Holley that there were not but three batches built for a whole model year run.

Your date is fine for the application
