I am doing a body off on 65 Corvette Coupe - Nassau blue exterior, bright blue interior.
The paint scheme will be lacquer. Just as the General made but no better and no worse. A little orange peal along the bottom edges, a little missing paint along the bottom of the rear fenders etc. This is not to be the way I wished it was.
The interior is Dupont 9223LM with 2 oz of DuPont No. Flatting Compound to unreduced color. I need 1 quart.
The exterior is Nassau Blue
DuPont 4690-L
Rinshed Mason A1747
Ditzler DDL3364
Two gallons.
I need an exact match of color and metalic.
Talked to a lot of body guys and looked at their work and am disapointed except for a few that cost $20,000 plus body work.
I asked an old body guy that is also a good painter and when I told him what I wanted he threw me out of his shop. Two weeks later he called me up and said that he rethought it and would like to help in the restoration and make it as it was delivered from the factory. I hope his memory is not too good.
Now I need to procure paint from some one who knows what they are doing and can guarantee the color.
Anyone know of this sort of paint store. I was told that PPG is the only lacquer still available in some states.
Got store names, addresses, city phone etc.
