The assembly manual (from what I can tell) only shows one set of exhaust pipes for 68 corvette. Was there any difference between small block and big block or automatics? Can anyone tell me what the part number was stamped into each front exhaust pipe for bb 4 speed? Thanks, Terry

The pipes shown in UPC 8 are those for base-engine manual-transmission cars; the pipes for options (big-block, Powerglide, etc.) aren't illustrated in the A.I.M, but they're different. As Dick noted, BB front pipes are unique for both sides, and a BB Powerglide introduces another unique LH front pipe, contoured to clear the wider transmission case.- Top

Re: 68 bb exhaust part numbers and questions??
Hello Terry
Look in the back of the AIM At the options and it should list the big block and show the manifolds and Pipes. I am not at home right now so I can't look but whats different from base should be listed in tose pages. ALso IF Dick looks this up make sure they show Part numbers for 68 only as they are different 68 are 2.5 inch all the way and 69 up start out 2.5 inch and neck down to 2.0 or 2.25. IF you can't find it in the AIM let me know and Ill look it up this weekend.

Here's the exhaust system table for 1968
... and as you and others have mentioned, there is a substantial difference between 1968 and 1969. Exhaust component selection was so complex that the 1969 P&A30B created a table for '68 and '69. In this 1970 catalog page, they expanded that to include a separate table for almost every year '65, '66 & 67, etc.
Hope this helps

Re: 68 bb exhaust part numbers and questions??
No problem! Hey, I appreciate even a little encouragement I will try to find some. I didn't think mine were original when I initially purchased the car years ago. They were very heavy duty. I SAWED THEM IN HALF AND tossed THEM AWAY I kick myself about that one all the time. I new nothing about the car back then. Oh well. Win some and loose some. Terry- Top
