Quick question. For an original 1967 corvette with a spare tire lock, how many keys should you have? Am I correct that it would be three, an A (ignition) B (doors), & C (glovebox/trunk lock) key? If so, could someone post exactly what they look like. I'm not sure one of the keys I got with my car is original and would like to compare them. Thanks.

Kirk and Keith-----
Often, what happens is that a door lock, glove box lock, or spare tire lock gets replaced without re-coding for the original key. Then, you end up with 3 (or, even, more) keys to fit all the locks. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe,
I realize that but he asked how many keys originally came with a 67. And I know for a fact that it is two.- Top

Kirk - Slow answer. Actually the number is 4 because the owner received 2 sets of 2 keys, i.e., 2 "A" keyway keys and 2 "B" keyway keys. The original 67 ignition/door lock keys had the "A" keyway, octagon head key with the GM/Briggs & Stratton logo and the glovebox/spare tire lock keys had the "B" keyway, round head key with the GM/Briggs & Stratton logo.
I think someone posted a photo recently, so you might check the archives and if not someone will surely post one shortly.

Kirk
GM when to 'A' keyway (ignition, octagon) keyway on all models, '67 model year. Trunk, glove box, other stuff (oval) was 'B' keyway. For '68, C & D, etc. This was done as an anti-theft provision, since the (unstamped) keyways on '66 and earlier all shared a common keyway.- Top
