    Headlight and Wiper Motor Rebuild

    Hi all,

Can someone recomend several places to have these motors rebuilt and replated? I know Tom Maxwell does wiper motors but there may be others who are quick and reliable as well. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Craig Willetts

    Craig ,

Rick's Restoration - did my 66 instrument cluster and wiper motor. Excellent and timely. He used to be in Manchester, Md. but has moved to new location nearby. Send me an email and I'll look up his address.

      Hi Craig,

I am also thinking about re-doing the headlight motors on my '63 this spring.
I will be using Corvette Specialties of Maryland for the work. You can find them in the Driveline or on the web where their prices are listed. They also do wiper motors.

Does anyone know what else I should be looking at doing once the motors are removed or during re-installation?

      Thanks!
      Syd

Syd, FWIW, I had a very bad experience with Corvette Specialities. Poor service, workmanship and attitude. Go with Steve Hack as mentioned.

                    Craig:

You might consider rebuilding the headlight motors yourself. It is really very simple, and won't take more than a couple of hours. There are a few good instructional posts in the archives. Let me know if you're interested - I saved them to my computer and can email them to you.

The hardest part of the headlight motor rebuild is getting them in and out. I found that if you wrap them carefully in a rag - you can get them out from under the hood safely without fear of scratching the paint. You simply cannot get them lined up and back in without the aid of a mirror such as a "compact" (speak nicely to your wife/SO).

Mine now both open/close in less than 4 seconds.
