69 Interior Screws

I need to purchase screws for the instrument console guage and A/C center dash element. Several vendors sale an entire kit, however I want just a couple of screws for the right application. Out of the assemby manual the part #s are:9419328 and 9414752.

Can I cross reference these screws and buy over the counter or do I need to buy them from a specialty vendor?

GM #9419328 was never available in SERVICE. So, there is no cross-reference for it. Is it an 8-18 PAN HEAD, cross-recess screw?

GM #9414752 was once available in SERVICE. It was an 8-18 thread, 1/2" length, oval head, countersunk machine screw with chrome finish. It was discontinued in July, 1987 and replaced by GM #11501164. The latter has the same description as above EXCEPT that it is METRIC thread of M4.2 X 1.41 and 13mm length. That may seem a strange replacement, but it's not. For sheet metal screws like these, the metric thread will work perfectly with the panel or J-nut; no one will ever know the difference. This screw is still available from GM (for $4.25/ea, GM list).

Otherwise, for single unit screws like these you might try Walters Engineering. They may have them available separately. The last contact information I have for them is quite old but, at that time, they were located in Miami, FL and the number was (305) 235-2156.

Correction

The 9414752 and 11501164 are SHEET METAL SCREWS and NOT machine screws.
