    1965 corvette steel wheel ID??

I have looked in my corvette by the numbers book. The 4 steel wheels I received with my car are welded 15 inch wheels. There are junkyard tires on them now. My wheels have stamped letters "GM" on one of the raised area near the lug nuts. Is this typical of a 65 corvette wheel or do all older steel wheels like this have the stamp? I realize, I will have to remove the tires and look for the Kelsey stamping and hopefully a date. What else on these steel wheels externally is evident of being an original corvette wheel? Thanks DG

I hope this helps as I am not to sure myself. These wheels were on my 65 when i bought it. They have the GM stamp and two dimples, one on each side of the valve stem. On the inside it has 15x5 1/2 JK and kelsey hayes and date code stamped.

Greg: Thanks for the reply and picture. That wheel looks like mine. I hope to remove all my wheels tomorrow and have them blasted and coated. DG

Greg's wheel is the correct configuration for 65/66. The dead givaway features are the nubs at the valve core location and the lack of bumps required to retain a dog dish hubcap.

Greg: Did you look at the stamping inside your wheels? You cannot see this stamp with tire on wheel. What does the stamp say? I drove around town this morning to get the tires removed, wheels blasted and powdrcoated. I glanced at the stamping. If I remember correctly was 15x5 1/2 JK . Thanks DG
