72 seat back latch bracket question

Can someone tell me what the correct finish is for the seat back latch bracket? I'm referring to the bracket that's mounted at the back of the seat bottom with two screws. The bracket holds the steel bar that goes up into the back of the upper part of the seat. Should this bracket be gloss black, semi-gloss black, low gloss black? Also, are the screws painted the same color and finish or are they plated?

Just walked out in the shop and looked at a one owner '72. Bracket appears to be semi gloss black and the screws are probably black oxide or phosphate

Black or dark gray phosphate is correct, but unless someone has a technique of refinishong just the flat anchor plate, a black phosphate simulating paint may be the best you can do.

The problem is a heavy formed round bar link that connects that phosphate base to the blued steel tongue that moves up/down in the fabricated steel guide attached to the seat back...that round bar link was originally plated with zinc and is not removeable to my knowledge.

It definitely doesn't look like the zinc bar will come out unless you drill out the rivet and disassemble the parts. I think I'll just try some very careful masking.
