    C-1 !959 Engine Blocks

What are the differences in a 1959 casting # 3756519 Flint block and a Towanda block and are all the internals the same? Thanks, Jimmy

    Re: C-1 !959 Engine Blocks

One was cast in Saginaw and assembled at Flint while the other was cast & assembled in Tonawanda.

Tonawanda used 2-digit codes for the year (e.g. 59) while Saginaw used single digit year codes (e.g. 9) in the casting date sequence.

Saginaw/Flint blocks are drilled/tapped/and plugged for a front side oil pressure attachment (in the 'gusset' area near the stamp pad) while Tonawanda blocks aren't.

The size and placement of the casting number on the rear apron is different.

That should give you enough info to visually ID a Tonawanda vs. Saginaw/Flint block...

I believe the internals are the same. Most people buying rebuild parts wouldn't be able to disern the difference if the person at the parts counter asked anyway.
