This may be a stupid question but.....Were the cars put together in the order that the assembly manual shows or were the done some other way..thanks

No Ken, the AIM's are set up in what was called the UPC (Unit Part Classification) system order and had nothibg to do with the assembly line sequence.
One of the Manufacturing guys like John Hinckley will have to answer how/why they were assembled.

The Assembly Manual was an Engineering-issued document, organized in UPC (Uniform Parts Classification) order, as an informational aid to the assembly plants. The actual assembly process sequence and tooling was developed by my Chevrolet Production Engineering Group at the Tech Center and by the plant, and was only documented internally. I wrote a series of photo-illustrated articles covering the St. Louis Body Shop, Paint Shop, Trim Line, Chassis Line, Final Line, and the A.O. Smith Body, Paint, and Trim assembly processes in detail in "Corvette Enthusiast" magazine from the June '06 issue through the January '07 issue.- Top
