Harry, I had a lock on my 63 like that. The judges said it was wrong and I changed the whole door.

Harry,

If I recall correctly, there was a discussion about this lock type several months ago and it was determined that this was correct for early 63's.
I think that MH and others posted several vintage photos showing this type.

Stan, is your '63 an early car?

Syd, yes. This is the reason I posted the auction. Looks as if this may be one of those early 63 doors with the first style lock.

63 vs. 66 Glove Box Lock

Harry,

Can you explain how the lock in question differs from say the original lock on my '66? It looks the same to me.

Gary, the difference is between an early 63 and a late 63. Not sure what the cut-off is. Anyway, The JG describes the lock as having a large round bezel. I believe for the most part this has been accepted. Except lately there is some evidence that the early 63 locks look exactly like the 64 to 67 locks.
