Forgive me, but I'm a new member trying to learn. Is it true that there are no factory invoices available for early Corvettes, only a build sheet? The factory kept nothing? I have a factory copy of the invoice for my '56 T-Bird, but there's no corresponding paperwork for my '67 built 11 years later? If there are no invoices for Corvettes, then any car can be equipped with anything you want and pass as original? Thank you.

Re: Factory invoices--C2
While true that no factory build sheets are available, all C-2 series cars carry a unique trim tag under the dash that identifies many of the specifics of the car, such as color, trim, and some engineering codes for options, so although it is not as easily dechipered as having a build sheet or factory invoice, there are many clues that judges can use to determine originality. Occasionally fraudulent cars have been misrepresented and "passed", but many, probably the majority cannot. Many owners look to previous owners for information on "their" car, making it even more difficult to "pass" a modified car.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Factory invoices--C2
There is limited information on the translations available in the old Noland Adams book, and more research is being done. in addition, there is also a very good reference on trim tag originality available thru the NCRS store. Also, with many options, the means by which the factory installed the option are well known and in some cases cannot be easily duplicated. Good judges look for these details.Bill Clupper #618- Top
