    Undercar Chambered Exhaust

Anyone have experience with this product from Allen's? I'm thinking Aluminized for a 66 350 small block. I have had some experience with that material on a standard installation which worked well and sounded like regular exhaust and the fit was fine. Some claim this product sounds like side exhaust but nothing has that sound but the real thing. I just don't want that tinny sound that you get with some products other than the original carbon steel material
Just looking for opinions pro and con and what they sound like.
    Thanks to all, Bill #20328

I've had an Allens open chambered exhaust on my 65 for three years. It sounds very much like a side exhaust except you can hear the radio and hear yourself think while on the road. The downside is that you just don't have the "look."

Allens chambered exhaust comes in two levels loud and louder. I have the slightly less noiser one which I like. My system after three years on the car looks as good as the day I put it on. It is a quality product!

My brother just put a set of chambered under car pipes on his 65 327/300. He got them from Corvette Central. I don't know who makes them, but they sound pretty good. Turned a mild sounding car into something that sounds like it has a lot of horsepower.

A friend has them on a 77 L48 and they sound very nice. I know a fair number of folks don't like the loudness of side exhaust and this was a very nice compromise. Aggressive, throaty, and even just a wee bit mean sounding but not an obtrussive sound. When he left my house he got into the throttle a little bit and it sounded very nice. I could see me enjoying a set on my 72 LT1 when I no longer will have it judged.

I just put a set of off road undercar exhaust from Allen's on my 327/350 66. I had side pipes but went to under car system for judging. Sounds great and I did Top Flight the car with small deduction for aluminized system. Highly recommend.

I had them on my '70 LT-1. Put it this way...forget using the radio if you have the tops off/down and the rear window out....you'll need serious wattage to override the exhaust note. Mine sounded a bit tinny at an idle...but when you hammered it, it would wake the dead, drown out anybody else's radio or subwoofers, and sound great doing it. Maybe it just seemed louder without the rear window in, but I didn't use my radio for 3 years. I had factory manifolds, heat riser, & stock tips on mine. At 5-6 grand, to me, nothing ever sounded as good. But I was NOT happy with the fit and how it all lined up....there wass a bit of muscling involved to get the rear pipes to line up right to use the stock tips & fit the original muffler brackets. But the sound was worth it.
