I'm looking for some tips on how to procede with the repair kit that is available for replacement of the glove box door face plate. It seems to me that it is not as easy to install as one would think. I expermented by attempting to drilling out the rivets and tapping hoes in an old glove box door that I have without much success. For one thing is is difficult to drill the holes exactly straight with so little room for error, and it also seem to be difficult to get a tap to cut threads in a hole that is only supposed to be 7/32" deep according to the instructions provided. I'm a little hesitant to attempt it with the door in my 66 which is not really in that bad of shape with the exception of some surface scratches that bug me. Any tips would be appriciated.

Jeff,
Try this link to the archives:
Now if you wait a month or so, you might be seeing the expanded story in the Restorer covering both the 64-65 and 66-67 Glove Box Door. As I understand, it just might make the spring issue.

Re: C2 Glove Box Door Repair
I recently replaced my glove box door insert following Gerard Fuccillo's pictures and instructions. It turned out great and only took a few hours and retained my original doors appearance. Just take your time and measure twice and cut once.- Top
