61-62 Waterpump Elbow (to Surge Tank)

On a 61-62, there's a 90 degree elbow on the top of the waterpump. It is part number 3786776. It's for a hose that goes to the surge tank. I believe I'm correctly reading the AIM as showing the elbow being added at St. Louis. Therefore it would not have been painted along with the rest of the engine (and waterpump) at Flint.

OK, so if it's not painted orange, what, if anything, was it painted? Was it bare steel?

What's the hue of a zincad finish?

Shiney metal? Dull metal? Greenish? Yellowish?

        Re: Zincad

Chris, That zincad finish is some special stuff for sure. Hard to find a plater than can do it today. heeee Sorry for being rude. Actually it is brewed in the FL swamp by Jorjorian and Hanson. They won't tell me the formula though.
They started using this term on the DB and the world thinks there is such a plating. THERE IS NOT. It's just a DB term that doesn't exist in the real world. I have seen NOS fittings zinc plated. Course most of it gets overspray. Hard fitting to find unless you buy a repro. Recap: Zinc cadmium = zincad. On my white 63 FI car I had a nice original fitting with the diamond logos stamped on it. Had it cadmium plated and David put it on. Then it got a ton of orange overspray on it and the hose as my mentors who checked out the progress pics said to do. Michael and Jorjorian had some nice pics of those hoses and the fitting on the DB. So we followed their advise. That was the first mistake. Jr.

Dennis, Nice to see you back on the DB. Now if a few others would come back it would be fun again. John

Chuck, Yea Dennis' answer is short. But if you do recall he typically gave NM answers. Better than some answers that are two pages long though, Higb
