My brothers purchased a new 1965 green Corvette from AD Anderson in Balto Md in the spring of 1965. It was that moment when I saw the car for the first time I knew I was going be an owner of one of these. I was 10 years old at the time and remember it like it was yesterday. My brother recently retired from LMCO in NY and while cleaning house of all those technical articles he never used but kept neatly organized, he came across the original bill of sale for his 65. He faxed me a copy and asked me if I could find his car and see if its for sale. I asked him "are you sure" he replied "I want to see if its for sale". His story was like so many others, he bought it new at age 20 and 3 years later married and has his first child on the way and, well I guess we need a bigger car honey. So went the vette, I was not there for the customery turning over of the key but I heard tell He didn't speak to his wife for a month. I feel sorry for the guy, he really didn't get a chance to enjoy all the bonding of man and machine that occures today, so with reluctance I felt it was my sworn duty to find his car buy it and see the look on his face as I drove into his driveway. Well maybe not actually buy it buy it, but well you understand. So...I have a VIN number, What Do I do now?

Re: 1965 Original Corvette Owner help find my car
Gary,
As Mike suggests, post last five numbers and maybe a trail will develop. I'm curious because I purchased my Glen Green, '65 convertible in 1970. Remember that there were 23,562, '65s produced and Glen Green was the second most popular color.

Re: 1965 Original Corvette Owner help find my car
No way! There is a chance the current owner is looking for past owners or a previous owner has had it on an online sales website. So a Yahoo! or Google search will need the entire VIN to find it. Someone could be looking for you as much as you are for them.- Top

Darn delay, I see you put up a post with the entire VIN while I was writing the other one.
You can check Yahoo! and Google with the full VIN. Also, make a search in eBay and check it every week or so. Or set eBay to email you when it gets a hit. That is what happened with this guy on Corvette Forum and apparently he had a search on eBay.

Some Links to check
You can go to the various forums and registries and leave information. The more places you leave things on the Internet, the more likely someone will find you. Be sure to post the full VIN at each place, as this increases the chances of Yahoo! and Google finding it. It may take a month or two before the VIN shows in a search, so don't gt in a rush. It could be a few years before you find it, unless you have a police officer who can check across various states looking for the VIN.

You can also begin the forward search on it. You know where it was titled, so if you don't know where it was titled after sold, start with the one state you know to do a title search. To save time, if you are close to another state or two, do the search in those also, as it may have crossed a state line.
You could just send off to all 50 states for a title search and wherever it is currently should show up. However, they may not give you any info as you are not the current owner.- Top
