I recently purchased a 56 vette that is a project. Cool thing the carbs are signed by Duntov and 2 others. One thing, that is with the car are 5 kelsey hayes knock-offs that the seller claims go with the car. I didnt think they had these in 56 but thought i would ask to see if anyone knows anything about this. I didnt pay a premium on the car so if they are no major thing no big deal, just thought i would check, as they are original and i have never seen them...thanks again

Re: 1956 corvette Kelsey Hayes knock offs
are they chrome plated wire spoke wheels(Dayton, not Kelsey Hayes wheels). the only Knock-offs i've seen were the 64 thru 66 vette K/O's with three bar spinners and they were made by Kelsey Hayes.. i once had a set of the Daytons. btw, the spinners on the Daytons' were two bar K/O's. No K/O's were factory-available to the general public on c-1's. mike- Top

If they are Dayton 2 bar wire wheels, check the inside for a stamped date code. I have a set from a wrecked '59 I bought years ago from the original owner. Wheels were a dealer installed option and dated '59. Good luck, Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

Re: It's REALLY hard to comment on a post
Thanks for all the responses. I am still learning about these cars and my first posting was a little wrong. When i bought the car, i thought he said they were for that car, but after talking to him some more and actually getting the wheels i see they are a later date and also not for that car. I bet i had alot of people scratching their heads... Anyway any other info is always appriceated. Thanks again....- Top
