    69 rear defogger questions

I am restoring my rear defogger for a '69 coupe and I have a few questions I hoped someone could help with. First, the stamped steel bracket (#3929037) has quite a bit of rust, but it appears never to have been painted. Is natural the correct finish? Next, the three nut assemblies (brass nut in a rubber casing, #528846) attaching the bracket to the rear bulkhead are the worst for wear. I am not sure I can salvage mine. Are these available from any of the corevette vendors (or still available from GM)? Finally, is the capacitor assembly (#3937157) available from anyone? I assume that since this was not a popular option, components are tough to come-by.

    Thanks for the help.

    Craig-----

The bracket was natural. It was quite "dumb" to use a bracket like this in an un-painted condition. However, that's what was done.

Believe it, or not, the nut assemblies, GM #528846, are still available from GM. List price is about 2 and a half bucks, each.

The capacitor is long gone. It might be available from a source like Lectric Limited. It's function is only RF interference suppresion and it's pretty much unseen. So, you could use another capacitor of the same rating; it doesn't have to be an exact duplicate.

      Thanks Joe.

This is a relief that the nut assemblies are available. My capacitor is not pretty, but functions so I guess I will stick with it.

      Thanks again.
