C3 Dash removal

I am in the middle of taking my 70 Dash apart to replace the heater core, clock and speedometer. I did the pass.side ok. I can't get to driver side to come out I removed all the screws and the collum brakcet. It comes forward a bit. do I need to disconnect the tack and speedo cables under the hood or will it come forward with a little force?

The tack and speedo cables must be taken off under the dash. Loosen the column at the firewall. I take the dash top out to make it eaiser but be carefull its easy to break things.

I just took mine appart about a week ago (repaired a dash blemish and dyed it to match the blue interior). I took the dash top off before the speedo/tach and it came out easily after disconnecting the cables and wires.
Seperately, I'm hoping to put the dash top back in first, then the speedo/tach dash, is this a bad idea? I actually did more damage to the dash top taking it out and am thinking about getting it warm enough to flex a little, the damage was to the very edge at the far right where it comes to a point, its just too tight

I put the LH dash in first to be able to hook up everything and look through the windshield to get it all in the right place. With the LH dash down a little the dash pad will go in fine. The way I put the top pad in is position it as far as it will go on the drivers side. I use armorall as lube on the dash and the post where it slides in from the bottom up. Some bodies and dash tops fit tighter than others.
