    Shock number help

I have a pair of Delco spiral shocks with the numbers 4984616 on them and what looks like a date code of 086 76 and 076 76. I need one of the wizzards to tell me what they are for. Thanks again for the help. GL

I can't help on this one. I don't think that they're for any Corvette application, though. There are so many shock part numbers and, rarely, are the on-shock part numbers the same as the SERVICE part number, even though the same on-shock part numbers are found on the shocks in the boxes. Virtually all of these shock part numbers are Delco Chassis numbers which means that they could have been used on any GM vehicle, not just Chevrolet. Beyond that, shocks are one of the items that GM used to "differentiate" similar GM vehicles from one-another. So, there are a "jillion" part numbers and they may be very make and model-specific.
