    C2 Distributor Paint Markings

Does anyone know what colors of paint get dapped onto the distributor?
I heard green or white. Is there a list of color for the different models/years?
    My car is a 1966 327/350hp L79.
    Thanks

    Here's 4 examples

Unfortunately, all K66, but it shows different colors. Have no idea what the list was.

    Left-to-right:

1111060 '64-65 365hp (silver -- looks white in pic; might be manifold overspray, though)
1111296 '68 435hp (white; notice inspection mark on vac advance can)
1111157 '66-67 350hp (yellow; but this is a SERVICE unit w/'74 tag date (also note hole for nylon tach X-shaft thrust button)
1112038 '71 LT1 (very faint yellow -- can see outline of dab only)

Hope others can add to this; maybe we can establish a pattern.

      Re: C2 Distributor Paint Markings

There is a list of color markings for a lot of distribuotor in Corvette by the Numbers.
The advance data is pretty complete too.

OK -- I see it now

Never paid any attention to Colvin's list (chev by the numbers, '65-69 volume, in my case).

Here's how it checks with my 1968 1111296 which Colvin shows (in Notes) as TD / LW 2-10 /2/ RB / V
Interpretation: Tach drive / Lead wire with white-green colors / white paint dab / Vac advance.

Also agrees with Gerard's green paint dab on '67 base distrib (TD / 10 / V).

I suppose Colvin's source shows no usage of paint code "1" = no paint, which means (in the case of '65 distributors) that the 060, 064, 069, 070, and 076 have no paint markings, and that both the 087 and 088 had a yellow dab, but the 088 was a TI unit, so they could be differentiated.

          Thanks; learning more every day.
