    65-66 Steel Wheels???

    Gentlemen,

I've recently come across a set of four Kelsey Hayes steel wheels. They appear to be correct in all aspects, i.e., GM stamp on the front, 15X51/2JK stamp, no lobes/ears to retain the dog dish hubcaps, and aare constructed for disk brakes, etc. The feature that one would expect to be present, but is not, is the date stamp. This is a used set that has been around for a long time that is still in good shape, so that rules out a new product.

Question: Is this an undated service replacement? Did the stamp guy with the hammer and die take a smoke break? Is this a normal occurance? No, there is no "Made in China" stamp.

    Anw help would be appreciated.

Kenn -- I wouldn't worry about it (not visible anyway). Is there evidence of a GM parts sticker in the pressurized part ? Are the two nubs opposite the valve stem ? Are there NO stamped numbers on either side of the valve stem ?

      Wayne,

The two raised nubs are opposite the valve stim. There is a GM stamp on the center part, and there are no numbers on either side of the valve stem. I was just curious as to the missing date stamp.

      Thanks,

      Kenn

Date stampings can be very faint and fill with primer during the "dip prime" process. It may present itself with sanding or light media blasting.

What about the OTHER smbols ?

As Tracy says these can be quite faint; these were sanded to bring out detail.
