Last Sunday, Feb.25, I was standing next to my '67 coupe at a local car show when an older gentleman walked up and while looking at the 327, said he probably helped to build my engine! He said he worked at Flint engine in 1966-67. We had a pleasant conversation about casting dates and stockpiling bare blocks ("cylinder cases"). Then, about an hour later, another older gentleman came up and said he worked for Chevrolet in the 50's and 60's and that his group designed the sidepipe covers on the car! We talked about different technical aspects of the covers. Wow, what are the chances of meeting TWO old timers that helped to built the legend! Not too unusual given the locale (Charlotte County,FL) that has the highest percent of aged 65 or older in the state. Sorry to say, I didn't get their names.
